Gopalganj district experienced a day of torrential rain on Wednesday, severely disrupting daily life. Starting early in the morning, the heavy downpour led to widespread waterlogging across the city, with some roads submerged under more than two feet of water. This sudden and intense rainfall caused significant inconvenience to residents.

The incessant rain resulted in water accumulation in low-lying areas, hindering traffic movement and making it difficult for pedestrians. Several homes and shops were also inundated, impacting daily activities. According to the meteorological department, Gopalganj recorded 85 millimeters of rainfall, making it one of the highest single-day rainfall figures of the season.

Despite the challenges, the heavy rain brought a positive change as well. The district's temperature dropped by 3 degrees Celsius, offering much-needed relief from the oppressive humidity of the past few days. Meteorologists indicated that this rainfall signifies an active monsoon and predicted more showers in the coming days, advising farmers to manage their crop sowing and drainage systems effectively.

However, the urban waterlogging issues have raised questions about the preparedness of the municipal corporation. Demands for better drainage and proper cleaning of sewers have resurfaced to prevent similar situations in the future. Rural roads were also affected, disrupting connectivity, and local administration is urged to take immediate steps to address the drainage concerns.
