The body of 12-year-old Dhananjay Kumar, who drowned in the Gandak River near Sariya village in Govindganj police station area, was recovered on Tuesday morning, the third day after the incident. The tragic event occurred three days prior during Navratri puja, when residents of Jitwarpur village had gone to the river for 'Jalbozhi' (a ritual involving carrying water).

Dhananjay Kumar, son of Ramashray Sahni, a resident of Jitwarpur Nayaka Tola, Pipra Panchayat, drowned during the ritual. On Sunday, after returning from 'Jalbozhi', children from the village informed his family about Dhananjay's disappearance. Following this, Arearaj CO Vinod Kumar Pandey was notified, who then dispatched an SDRF team to the location. The SDRF team conducted a search for two days but could not locate the boy.

Finally, on Tuesday morning, the body was found floating in the river. After the recovery, Govindganj police sent the body to Motihari for post-mortem examination. The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the entire village.
