The Hathua Circle office in Gopalganj district is grappling with a severe shortage of staff, leading to an unprecedented increase in workload. Previously, 23 Halqas (revenue circles) were managed by 11 revenue staff. However, this responsibility has now fallen on the shoulders of just 4 employees. This situation is expected to significantly impact the functioning of the circle office and cause considerable inconvenience to the public.

According to sources within the circle office, 11 revenue staff positions were sanctioned for the 23 revenue Halqas in Hathua. Due to transfers and other reasons, several positions have become vacant. Currently, only 4 revenue staff members are working, bearing the burden of all 23 Halqas. Consequently, each employee is now responsible for an average of 5-6 additional Halqas.

The shortage of revenue staff is directly affecting land-related operations. Delays are anticipated in mutation processes, land revenue collection, land surveys, resolution of land disputes, and the implementation of other crucial government schemes. Farmers and the general public may have to make repeated visits to the circle office to get their work done, leading to wasted time and resources.

Local representatives and social activists have urged the administration to intervene in this serious matter. They emphasize the need to fill the vacant revenue staff positions as soon as possible to ensure the smooth functioning of the Hathua Circle office and prevent hardships for the public. If the situation persists, the execution of tasks at the circle office will become even more challenging.
