Residents of Bihar Road in Hilsa town, Nalanda district, held a meeting on Monday to protest against the road widening project. The residents alleged that the administration conducted an incorrect land survey, which would lead to the demolition of homes belonging to hundreds of poor families. They have decided to file a lawsuit in the Patna High Court regarding this matter.

The meeting was chaired by Vinay Kumar, where it was unanimously resolved that no house would be allowed to be demolished at any cost. All residents pledged to unite and oppose the project, also agreeing to contribute collectively for filing the case in the High Court. Residents discussed future strategies, warning that if the government attempts forced demolitions, they would resort to measures like road blockades and hunger strikes.

Around 300 residents of Bihar Road, including Mukesh Kumar, Ramanand Prasad, Virendra Kumar, Jai Mangal Sah, and Ashish Kumar, attended the meeting.

It is noteworthy that six days prior, land measurement and demarcation work for road widening from Cinema Mod to Dor River had commenced. A joint team from the Road Construction Department, District Land Acquisition Office, and Hilsa Circle Amin surveyed the land according to the proposed road width. During this survey, approximately 150 houses and shops were found to be located on government land. Officials stated that most of the land required for the road from Cinema Mod to Dor River is government-owned.
