Dozens of villages in Kaimur district are facing severe hardship due to the absence of a bridge over the Durgavati River near Dughra village, under Kaithi Panchayat in Bhabhua block. Despite being just half a kilometer from National Highway (NH-19), residents of Dughra, Horlapur, Bishanpura, Hathiyaban, Bahera, and over ten other villages remain deprived of basic amenities.

Villagers report that children and women are forced to risk their lives daily, crossing the river and muddy paths. Hariom Singh, a Dughra resident, highlighted the irony of discussing a major economy while their local situation remains dire. Elderly villager Sankatha Tiwari stated that the lack of a bridge prevents patients from receiving timely medical treatment, and farmers are compelled to sell their produce at low prices in local markets. He also noted that MP Manoj Tiwari studied in this area and building the bridge would be his 'guru dakshina'. Student Adarsh shared that poor boats and muddy routes often cause him to miss his school bus.

According to local leaders, the bridge construction file has been pending with NABARD for years. Kaimur District Magistrate Kumar Anurag has taken notice of the villagers' persistent demand. He confirmed that the matter has come to his attention and he will soon hold a meeting with engineers from the Rural Works Department (RWD). This meeting will investigate the cost of the bridge and the reasons for the file's delay, aiming to find a solution as quickly as possible.
