Katihar, Kadwa. Residents of Kanta village, under the Bhogaon Panchayat in the Kadwa block, have been facing severe difficulties for decades due to the absence of a bridge on a crucial route connecting their village to Pranpur. Locals state that despite several decades since independence, a permanent solution to this problem has not been found. Without a bridge, people are forced to travel an additional five to seven kilometers to reach Pranpur, instead of a direct, shorter route, leading to wastage of both time and money.

Villagers have been demanding the construction of a bridge at this site for a long time, but no concrete action has been taken so far. This has led to growing resentment among the local population towards the administration and elected representatives. Residents believe that a bridge would establish a direct link between Kanta village and Pranpur, significantly easing transportation.

On Saturday, local residents, led by Sameem Akhtar and former मुखिया Rahman Ali, staged a strong protest demanding the construction of the bridge. Protesters urged the concerned department and administration to commence construction work as soon as possible. Villagers highlighted that students, patients, the elderly, and traders all face hardships due to the lack of a bridge, having to travel long distances, which negatively impacts their daily routines and economic activities. The problem exacerbates during the rainy season.

Sameem Akhtar warned that if concrete steps are not taken towards bridge construction in a timely manner, local residents would intensify their agitation. Several villagers, including Mashfiq Alam, Mursaleen, Ameer, Mokrul Haq, Abdul Barik, Zahir Hussain, Tariq Alam, Firoz Alam, and Raja, were present during the protest, reiterating their demands.
