Katihar police have swiftly cracked a firing case in the Mufassil police station area, apprehending five suspects within just an hour of the incident. Authorities recovered a pistol, two magazines, nine live cartridges, five mobile phones, and three motorcycles from their possession.

Sadar SDPO Vishal Anand informed that the mother of the injured victim, Aryan Chaudhary, 30-year-old Vandana Kumari, provided a statement to the police. Vandana Kumari, a resident of Dalan Kadepura, Mufassil police station area, stated that on September 8th, at 3 PM, her son Aryan Chaudhary left home with his friend Gaurav Kumar. Around 4:30 PM, Gaurav informed her via mobile that Anshu Yadav, Sudhanshu Kumar, Akash Kumar, Aman Kumar Singh, and Ajay Kumar had shot Aryan, leaving him injured.

Upon receiving the information, Vandana Kumari immediately rushed to K.M.C.H., where Aryan was being treated in the emergency ward. Aryan identified Anshu Yadav as the one who shot him. Police investigation revealed that in April, Anshu Yadav's friend, Chandrashekhar alias Chhotu Singh, was fatally stabbed due to old enmity at a dhaba near Dalan. Aryan Chaudhary was also jailed in connection with that murder case and had been released from prison approximately two months prior. It is believed that this old rivalry and a desire for revenge motivated Anshu Yadav and his associates to shoot and injure Aryan.

Case number 361/26 was registered at Mufassil police station on September 8, 2026. Given the gravity of the incident, a special raiding team (SIT) was formed under the leadership of Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer Vishal Anand, acting on the directives of Superintendent of Police Parichay Kumar. Utilizing technical investigation and intelligence, the team conducted raids and arrested all five accused within an hour. The police are continuing with further legal proceedings.
