A minor dispute over unpaid rice bills escalated into a violent confrontation in Katihar district, Bihar, resulting in three people being critically injured in a firing incident. The event occurred on Thursday evening near Gokul Sah's shop in Bhatwara Bazaar, under the Kodha police station area, Bhatwara Panchayat. According to initial reports, a dispute was ongoing between Rohit Kumar, son of shopkeeper Gokul Sah, and Md. Zakir of Bhatwara, concerning outstanding payments for rice. On Thursday evening, when Zakir arrived at the shop, Rohit demanded the pending money, which led to an argument that quickly turned into a physical altercation.

The situation worsened as other individuals associated with Zakir's side arrived at the scene and attacked Gokul Sah's family. The assailants then resorted to firing, injuring shopkeeper Gokul Sah (55), his son Rohit Kumar (25), and another individual, Md. Shahnawaz (22). All three victims were immediately admitted to Katihar Medical College, where their condition is reported to be stable.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Kodha police arrived promptly. Authorities recovered a live cartridge and a spent shell from the crime scene. In a swift response, the police have detained six individuals for questioning, though the main accused remains at large. The Superintendent of Police stated that a special team has been formed to apprehend the absconding suspects, with raids ongoing. Tensions remain high in the area, and police forces have been deployed to maintain order.
