The Katihar Municipal Corporation has initiated stringent action against individuals and establishments violating solid waste management rules within the city. A special mobile court was constituted and conducted surprise inspections at various locations on Wednesday. During these inspections, a total fine of ₹37,000 was collected from several establishments and individuals found to be in violation of the rules. Additionally, four dustbins used for waste disposal were seized from shops that were found discarding waste in public spaces and failing to ensure proper disposal.

Municipal corporation officials stated that this action is part of an ongoing campaign to make the city clean and beautiful. Despite repeated warnings, some individuals continued to violate rules by openly dumping waste or not using dustbins correctly. This special drive was launched in response to these persistent violations. It is hoped that this action by the mobile court will raise awareness among city residents about cleanliness and encourage them to adhere to the regulations.

Officials clarified that this campaign will continue in the future, and strict action will be taken against those who violate the rules. They appealed to all citizens and commercial establishments to comply with solid waste management rules, dispose of their waste properly, and utilize dustbins. The objective is to make Katihar a clean and green city where every citizen contributes to the cleanliness drive. The seized dustbins and collected fines send a clear message that the corporation is serious about cleanliness and will not tolerate any negligence.
