Station masters in Katihar staged a protest in front of the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) office, demanding better safety measures and resolution of their long-pending issues. A significant number of station masters participated in the demonstration, expressing their dissatisfaction with the railway administration.

The key demands of the protesting station masters include a safe working environment, restoration of the old pension scheme, immediate recruitment for vacant posts, and rectification of salary discrepancies. They also alleged that they are being burdened with excessive workload, which is adversely affecting their mental and physical well-being. Station masters from the Katihar division highlighted concerns about inadequate adherence to safety protocols within the railway system, posing risks to their lives. They cited several instances where serious accidents were narrowly averted due to safety lapses.

One station master present at the protest stated, "We work tirelessly for passengers, yet our own safety and future remain uncertain. The withdrawal of the old pension scheme is a major blow to us." He further emphasized that the Railway Board should address their demands promptly, or they would be compelled to launch a larger-scale agitation.

Following the protest, the station masters submitted a detailed memorandum outlining their demands to the DRM office, addressed to the Railway Board. They warned that if their demands are not considered soon, they would intensify their movement, which could potentially disrupt train operations. This protest underscores the grievances of railway employees and puts pressure on the railway administration to address these critical issues.
