Koderma, October 21, 2026: On the occasion of Police Commemoration Day, heartfelt tributes were paid to police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty at the Koderma Superintendent of Police office. Families of the martyred jawans were honored during the event. Superintendent of Police Kumar Shivashish presented them with traditional garments (angavastra) as a mark of respect and gratitude, assuring them that the police administration would always stand by the families of the fallen heroes.

The program commenced with the Superintendent of Police laying a wreath at the Martyrs' Memorial. He stated that the sacrifice of police personnel symbolizes the police force's commitment to national internal security, maintaining law and order, and serving the public. It was informed that from September 1, 2025, to August 31, 2026, a total of 154 police officers, personnel, and other security forces across the country laid down their lives in the line of duty. In Jharkhand, three jawans were martyred, including Sub-Inspector Hemant Bhagat, Constable Sunil Ram, and Constable Santosh Kumar Mahto.

SP Kumar Shivashish called upon the police force to work with integrity and dedication to maintain the country's unity, integrity, and internal security. The event was attended by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer Koderma, Deputy Superintendent of Police Headquarters, Inspector-in-Charge, Police Inspectors, Station House Officers, and other police officials and personnel.

It is noteworthy that on October 21, 1959, ten CRPF jawans were martyred in an ambush by Chinese forces in Hot Springs, Ladakh. Since then, October 21 is observed annually as Police Commemoration Day to remember the sacrifices of brave personnel across the country.
