The historic annual Sati Puja will be celebrated with great fervor at the Kuchaykot Police Station premises, located on the UP-Bihar border, on the occasion of Sawan Purnima. Preparations for this unique event have been completed by the police administration and local residents. During the puja, police personnel will set aside their khaki uniforms and don traditional dhoti-kurta, with the Station House Officer (SHO) serving as the main host.

This historic puja sees the participation of the District Magistrate, Superintendent of Police, SHOs from nearby police stations, and several senior police officers previously posted here. This year, an estimated 25,000 to 30,000 devotees are expected to attend. Following the main worship during the day, a grand Mahabhandara (community feast) will be held until midnight, where a large number of devotees will partake in the Prasad.

Due to space constraints at the police station, the night cultural program will be organized at the grounds of Kuchaykot Boys Higher Secondary School. The event will feature performances by renowned Punjabi artist Dilber Mehdi, a pop singer from Delhi, and a female vocalist, generating significant excitement among the locals.

According to local beliefs, the tradition of Sati Puja dates back to the 18th century. It is said that a farmer named Kawal Yadav died from a snakebite, and his devoted wife sat with his body, after which the pyre spontaneously ignited. Since then, this place has been considered a Shakti Peeth, and the worship of Maa Sati began. In 1936, when the Kuchaykot police station was established, a British SHO attempted to stop the puja, leading to several unfortunate incidents. Since then, every SHO posted at Kuchaykot police station has continued this tradition.

In 2004, the then SHO Ramsagar Rai undertook a magnificent renovation of the Maa Sati temple located within the police station premises. SHO Darpan Suman stated that all necessary arrangements are being made for the convenience and security of the devotees.
