An excise department team from Gopalganj, Bihar, was attacked by liquor smugglers in Baldih Batani Tola, under Jamoo Bazar police station in Siwan district. The incident resulted in damage to the excise department's vehicle and minor injuries to some officers and police personnel.

The excise department had received intelligence about a large consignment of liquor being transported from Gopalganj towards Siwan. Acting on this tip-off, a team from Mohammadpur Excise Police Station initiated a vehicle inspection and surveillance operation. Under the leadership of Sub-Inspectors Shweta Kumari, Sahab Gupta, and Shashi Kumar Thakur, the team spotted a suspicious vehicle. Suspecting it to be carrying liquor, the excise team began pursuing it with two vehicles.

During the chase, the team inadvertently crossed the Gopalganj district border and entered Siwan district, reaching Baldih Batani Tola. There, the suspicious vehicle reportedly collided with the excise department's vehicle. Subsequently, a crowd gathered at the spot and surrounded the team. It is alleged that the mob assaulted the officers and police personnel and vandalized the government vehicle.

Following the incident, police teams from both Siwan and Gopalganj districts arrived and brought the situation under control. Police have increased surveillance in the village. Regarding the matter, ASI Shweta Kumari of the excise department has filed a named FIR at Jamoo Bazar police station against Shrikant Singh of Chhatisi, Rahul Singh, and Dharmendra Yadav of Ramooray Tola, along with 20 to 25 unknown individuals.
