The Mithila Student Union (MSU) staged a protest at Lalit Narayan Mithila University (LNMU) on Thursday, pressing for 17 demands related to various academic and administrative issues. Led by university president Gautam Jha, the demonstration commenced from the multi-purpose building and proceeded to the university campus, where a large number of students and MSU activists demanded concrete action on their concerns.

Key issues raised during the protest included student union elections, internships, transparency and accountability within the university, improvements in the academic system, student facilities, and basic infrastructure. The MSU urged the university administration to take immediate steps to address these student-centric matters.

Following the protest, a delegation from MSU held discussions with the university administration. According to the organization, during the talks, an agreement was reached to conduct student union elections between November 25 and 28, and to make internships completely free for students. However, MSU emphasized that mere assurances are insufficient, and it is crucial to implement these decisions on the ground. The organization stated that it would continuously review the implementation of these decisions.

MSU National President Vidya Bhushan highlighted that the organization's primary agenda is a corruption-free university. He stressed the need for a transparent and accountable system to eliminate problems like irregularities, unnecessary fees, and middlemen in universities and colleges. He clarified that MSU is not opposing any particular individual but is demanding systemic improvements and the protection of students' rights.

Regarding student union elections, the organization called for the entire process to be transparent, fair, and completed within the stipulated timeframe, recognizing it as a crucial aspect of student democracy. On the issue of internships, MSU demanded that students should not bear additional financial burdens, and the process should be simple, transparent, and entirely free. Students and MSU officials from various districts, including Darbhanga, Madhubani, Samastipur, and Begusarai, participated in the protest.
