Water from the Kosi River has inundated low-lying areas in Alamnagar and Chausa blocks of Madhepura district, affecting over a dozen villages. The rising water level has led to water entering many homes, causing significant difficulties for residents. Villagers are facing severe shortages of dry fuelwood and green fodder for their cattle. Due to the flooding, people are moving to safer and higher grounds, and children's education has also been impacted.

To assess the flood situation, DM Abhishek Ranjan conducted a boat tour of the affected areas on Wednesday. He gathered information on water levels, transportation arrangements, relief and rescue operations, and facilities being provided to affected families. The DM instructed officials to ensure there is no negligence in relief work and that aid reaches needy families promptly. The DM visited several waterlogged areas by boat, including Morsanda, Amni Tola, Karaulia Musahari, and Sapni Musahari in Phulaut West under Chausa Anchal. Subsequently, he also visited Kharauwa Vasa, Atgama Musahari, Muraut, and Sonamukhi in Alamnagar Anchal. He interacted with the affected people to understand their problems and needs.

Mobile medical teams are continuously touring the flood-affected villages, providing essential medical facilities and medicines to the people. Veterinary officers and staff are also reaching the affected areas to treat animals. The DM instructed both teams to remain active in the region. Public distribution system shopkeepers are delivering rations door-to-door to affected families. The DM ordered the establishment of community kitchens in Karaulia Musahari Tola and Atgama Musahari to provide cooked meals to the affected population.

The DM also inspected the preparations for packing relief materials and dry food items in Udakishunganj. He inquired about the packing arrangements and quality, ensuring prompt distribution of relief materials as needed among the affected families. The DM stated that in a disaster situation, the safety and timely assistance of affected people are the top priorities of the district administration. All officials have been instructed to continuously monitor the situation in their respective areas and immediately conduct relief and rescue operations as required.
