Madhepura district is set to launch a special campaign from September 1st to ensure early detection and timely treatment of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). The campaign will involve extensive screening of the population to identify potential patients. Depending on the need, arrangements will be made for their diagnosis, treatment, and referral to higher healthcare centers, along with ensuring regular follow-up for identified patients.

On Saturday, a review meeting of the health department was held at the Collectorate, chaired by District Magistrate Abhishek Ranjan. The preparations for the NCD campaign were thoroughly reviewed during this meeting. The District Magistrate instructed officials to achieve 100% of the campaign's targets and to pay special attention to the treatment and follow-up of patients after screening. He clarified that patients should not be limited to just diagnosis but should also receive proper treatment and regular follow-up.

The primary objective of the NCD campaign is to extend healthcare services to a larger population and to identify non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and cancer in a timely manner. Essential tests will be conducted for potential patients identified during screening. Upon confirmation of the disease, treatment will commence immediately, and patients requiring serious or specialized care will be referred to higher healthcare centers.

During the meeting, the progress of the Anemia Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (Anemia Free India Campaign) was also reviewed. The District Magistrate issued directives for the effective implementation of screening, availability and distribution of iron-folic acid, treatment, and follow-up for the prevention and control of anemia. He instructed the health department to establish better coordination among health workers to deliver essential healthcare and nutritional facilities to eligible beneficiaries. While the NCD campaign focuses on early detection of non-communicable diseases, the Anemia Mukt Bharat Abhiyan will monitor screening, iron-folic acid availability, treatment, and patient follow-up. Relevant officials from the health department were present at the meeting.
