Villagers in Dular Piprahi Panchayat, under Singheshwar block in Madhepura, held a crucial meeting on Sunday to address the alarming rise in drug trafficking and its devastating impact on the youth. Residents expressed deep concern over the escalating number of smack users in the area over the past five years, alongside an increase in the consumption of dry drugs, injectable narcotics, and country liquor. This surge in drug abuse is pushing many families into severe social and economic crises.

Social worker Anuj Yadav, who chaired the meeting, highlighted the detrimental effects of drug addiction, stating that the future of the younger generation is being jeopardized by smack, dry drugs, injections, and alcohol. Many youths are veering onto wrong paths, neglecting their education and employment opportunities. The villagers urged the police and administration to take stringent action against illegal drug businesses, emphasizing that merely targeting users would not provide a lasting solution. They stressed the need to identify and penalize those involved in the sale and trafficking of drugs.

The community also called for continuous awareness campaigns within the village and efforts to connect young people with education, sports, and employment. A stern warning was issued to drug dealers, stating that if they continue their illicit trade, they would face community-level fines. The meeting saw the participation of numerous villagers, including teacher Vinay Poddar, Laltu Kumar Mandal, Bambam Mandal, Ward Member Sudhir Kumar Mandal, Shankar Poddar, Jairam Yadav, Jagdish Pandit, Committee Representative Sikandar Rishidev, and former Mukhiya Shyamdev Rishidev.
