A tragic incident occurred in Madhubani district, Bihar, where a woman and an 8-year-old girl died after a landslide collapsed into the Kamala River. Two other women were injured in the incident, which took place in the Bela Bakshahi Tola area under Babubarhi police station. The deceased have been identified as 42-year-old Lalita Devi and 8-year-old Jyoti Kumari.

According to reports, a group of women from Bela Bakshahi Tola were bathing in the Kamala River when a portion of the riverbank suddenly collapsed. Lalita Devi and Jyoti Kumari were trapped under the debris and died on the spot. Two other women, Sangeeta Devi and another unidentified woman, sustained injuries. Sangeeta Devi has been admitted to Babubarhi PHC, while the other injured woman is receiving treatment at a private nursing home.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Babubarhi police reached the scene. They took possession of the bodies and sent them to Madhubani Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination. Rahul Kumar, the station house officer, stated that an investigation is underway, and the injured are receiving medical care. The families of the deceased are in deep shock, and a pall of gloom has descended over the village following this unfortunate event.
