The birthplace of Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan, Sitab Diyara, is set to receive a significant boost with the proposed Mahuli-Ara bridge. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced the allocation of 1256 crore rupees for the construction of this bridge. This project is expected to significantly ease transportation and accelerate development in the Saran district.

Currently, residents of Sitab Diyara and surrounding areas have to travel approximately 30 kilometers to cover a mere 5-kilometer distance due to the lack of a direct bridge. This results in significant time and resource wastage. The new bridge will alleviate this long-standing problem, providing much-needed relief to the local population.

Virendra Singh Mast, President of the JP Trust, expressed his happiness over the announcement, stating that the bridge would make commuting to and from Patna much easier. However, local residents have long been demanding a permanent or pontoon bridge connecting Revelganj to Sitab Diyara. A promised temporary pontoon bridge by the Bihar government has not yet materialized.

Along with the bridge announcement, attention is also being drawn to other development initiatives for JP's birthplace. Five projects, including a Memorial Museum, Virtual Studio, Research Center, and Khadi Promotion Center, were slated for completion by 2022 to develop JP's birthplace. These aimed to propagate JP's ideas and create local employment opportunities. The current status and budget details of these schemes remain unclear. Concerns have also been raised regarding the maintenance of JP's house, which has been designated as a national museum. Local residents are awaiting concrete steps to address fundamental issues and better preserve JP's legacy.
