A stampede-like situation occurred during the Ravana Dahan ceremony at Gandhi Maidan in Masaurhi, Patna, on Tuesday evening. As people were exiting after the effigy burning, some women fell near the main gate, leading to four women losing consciousness. Local committee members and police promptly transported the injured to Masaurhi Sub-Divisional Hospital.

Of the four injured women, three were discharged after receiving first aid. However, one woman, identified as Renu Devi, was referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for better treatment, where she is currently undergoing treatment and is reported to be in a stable condition.

According to Raghav Dayal, SDPO-1 of Masaurhi, the Ravana Dahan program was organized by a local committee at Gandhi Maidan on the occasion of Vijayadashami, attracting approximately 15,000 to 20,000 attendees. After the ceremony concluded, as people were exiting through the three gates of the ground, some women fell near the main entrance. This caused panic among the crowd behind them, leading to a stampede-like situation.

Police and committee workers immediately took charge, rescuing the injured from the crowd and taking them to the hospital. The SDPO stated that a three-tier security arrangement with police forces and magistrates was in place for crowd control and safety. The Ravana Dahan ceremony itself concluded peacefully, but the incident occurred during the exit.
