This year, Durga Puja in Kargahar market, Rohtas district, is set to be special. A grand pandal, modeled after famous Durga temples in Kolkata, is being constructed by renowned artisan Mohammed Islam and his team. The Durga Puja celebrations in Kargahar annually symbolize Hindu-Muslim unity and are a talking point in the Shahabad region.

The new executive committee of the Kargahar Durga Puja Committee has begun preparations to make this year's puja even more magnificent. Committee President Rajesh Kumar Gupta stated that Kargahar's Durga Puja is known for its grandeur in Rohtas district. To offer something new to devotees, the pandal is being designed on the lines of a prominent Kolkata Durga temple. This approximately 60-foot-tall pandal will showcase the essence of Bengali craftsmanship.

Treasurer Vijay Prasad Keshari informed that experienced artisan Mohammed Islam and his team have been entrusted with the pandal construction. Mohammed Islam has been building Durga Puja pandals for about 20 years and has a long-standing association with the committee. The committee aims to create a magnificent pandal that devotees will remember for a long time, and public support is also contributing to its construction.

Secretaries Mahavir Saundrik and Rakesh Prasad Gupta emphasized that Durga Puja is not just a festival for idol installation but also conveys a message of social unity and brotherhood. Artisan Mohammed Islam explained that thermocol, bamboo, and cloth are being used, striving to replicate the carvings and designs of Kolkata temples. Over 15 artisans are working day and night, and the pandal is expected to be ready by the first day of Navratri. Young volunteers are being deployed to ensure a peaceful and organized puja, and a grand effigy burning event will also be held on Vijayadashami.
