The anti-encroachment drive in Motihari district continued for the third consecutive day. A significant incident occurred at Turkaulia Chowk when a house collapsed onto a JCB machine during the ongoing operation. Fortunately, no one sustained serious injuries, though the JCB driver received minor wounds.

This drive, initiated by the administration, aims to free Turkaulia Chowk from traffic congestion and ensure smooth flow of vehicles. Over the past two days, numerous illegal structures have been demolished. On the third day, as efforts were made to remove a house, its weak structure led to its sudden collapse onto the JCB machine, causing momentary panic among onlookers.

Officials stated that notices had been issued to encroachers beforehand, but many failed to remove their illegal constructions voluntarily, necessitating forceful action by the administration. The primary objective of this campaign is to clear illegally built shops, homes, and other structures along the roadsides that obstruct traffic.

Local residents have largely praised the initiative, noting that Turkaulia Chowk frequently experienced severe traffic jams, causing inconvenience to pedestrians and commuters. However, some have expressed concerns regarding the rehabilitation of those displaced by the encroachment drive, about which the administration has not yet provided clear information. Security measures were tightened during the operation to prevent any untoward incidents.
