A dispute over a drainage system and a lane in Gonduvigha village, under the Chiksaura police station area of Nalanda district, escalated into a fatal shooting on Thursday, resulting in the death of 30-year-old Ajay Kumar. The deceased has been identified as Ajay Kumar, son of Vijay Paswan, a resident of the same village. The incident caused a panic among the villagers.

According to family members, the dispute began three days prior when women from both sides clashed over the drainage and a pathway. The matter was initially resolved with the intervention of community members and the police. However, on Thursday morning, the argument reignited, quickly escalating from verbal abuse to a physical altercation involving sticks and rods. During the scuffle, gunshots were fired, and Ajay Kumar was hit in the chest. He collapsed on the spot, bleeding profusely.

Ajay was rushed to Hilsa Sub-Divisional Hospital with the help of local residents, but doctors declared him dead upon arrival. Upon receiving information about the incident, DSP Ranjan Kumar and Chiksaura Station House Officer Gaurav Sindhu, along with police forces, reached the scene. The police have taken the body into custody for post-mortem examination and have initiated an investigation into the matter. The SHO stated that the police are examining all aspects of the case.
