Local residents and youth in Dumraon, Buxar, staged a strong protest on Friday, alleging irregularities and poor quality in the construction of the road connecting to National Highway-922. Led by social worker Ajay Rai, the protestors demanded a technical investigation into the construction work and quality checks on the samples of materials being used.

Demonstrators claim that this vital road links Dumraon town to NH-922, experiencing high daily traffic of vehicles and people. Despite its importance, they allege that prescribed quality standards are not being followed, and questions have been raised about the quality of the materials used. The public demanded that material samples be collected from the construction site and subjected to technical scrutiny to ascertain whether standard-compliant materials are being utilized.

Protestors warned that if substandard materials are used, the road would deteriorate quickly, leading to wasted public funds and denying people the benefit of a durable road. They also objected to the absence of information boards at the construction site detailing project cost, agency, length, width, and completion timeline, demanding that the approved estimate be made public.

Social worker Ajay Rai emphasized that development projects are funded by public money, necessitating quality and transparency in government construction. He called upon the relevant department to conduct technical inspections, quality checks of construction materials, and verify adherence to the approved estimates.

A delegation of youth and local residents, led by Ajay Rai, met with Dumraon SDM Rajiv Kumar. They submitted a memorandum signed by hundreds of people, demanding an inquiry into the road's construction quality, materials, process, and adherence to the approved estimate. The delegation urged action against the responsible agency or individuals if irregularities are found. SDM Rajiv Kumar listened to their grievances seriously and instructed the concerned official to investigate the matter and take necessary action. He assured that there would be no compromise on quality in crucial projects like road construction. Following the SDM's assurance, protestors expressed hope for a fair investigation, stating their objective was not to halt development but to ensure quality construction.
