Following communal violence in Nepal's Sunsari district, specifically in Dewanganj-Kaptan Ganj, security has been significantly beefed up along the India-Nepal border adjacent to Bihar's Araria district. On Monday, Araria District Magistrate Vinod Duhan and Superintendent of Police Jitendra Kumar visited border villages in the Narpatganj block.

They held meetings with villagers in areas under the Phulkaha police station, including Manikpur, Koshikapur, Ghurna, Basmatia, and Bela. The officials urged residents to maintain peace and harmony, advising them not to heed rumors. They instructed villagers to report any suspicious activity or untoward incidents immediately to the local police, SSB, or administration. The DM and SP assured that security arrangements in the border areas have been strengthened, with continuous patrolling by the SSB and Bihar Police, and increased surveillance.

During their visit, the officials also inspected the midday meal (MDM) program at a primary school in Bhawanipur. They interacted with students about their studies and the quality of food, and checked the kitchen for hygiene and adherence to food standards. They also met with local villagers to understand their concerns, assuring them of the administration's commitment to resolving public welfare issues. A large number of villagers, public representatives, SSB, and police officials attended the meetings. Additional Nepali security forces have also been deployed in Sunsari district to maintain peace, with security agencies from both nations continuously monitoring the situation.
