Two Arrested in Patna for Overseas Job Fraud: Kishanganj Police Action
Kishanganj police, acting on the directives of Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar, formed a special team that, with the assistance of STF, arrested two primary accused, Haji Nahid Ghani and Mohd. Tavrej, from Patna on October 16. The duo is accused of defrauding unemployed youths from the Seemanchal region under the guise of providing overseas jobs, sending them abroad through illegal channels, and allegedly forcing them into bonded labor. Haji Nahid Ghani hails from Baisa, Purnia, while Mohd. Tavrej is a resident of Kathalbari in the Angarh police station area of Purnia.
According to the police, the accused collected large sums of money from unemployed youths, luring them with promises of better employment abroad. More than half a dozen FIRs have been registered against them across various police stations in Kishanganj and Purnia districts. A special team, led by SDPO-1 Khushru Siraj, was constituted for swift investigation and action. The raiding and technical team included Police Inspector Mohd. Mushtaq, in charge of the District Intelligence Unit.
It is alleged that some youths were illegally sent to Malaysia via Thailand with the help of a Pakistani agent. Police refer to such routes as 'Donkey Routes,' often used in human trafficking. Mohd. Suleman complained that Rs 1.80 lakh was taken to send his son, Noorjafar, abroad. Noorjafar was sent from Patna to Delhi on September 9, 2026, then to Krabi in Thailand, and subsequently entered Malaysia illegally on September 18. During a raid by Malaysian Immigration Police, several youths were arrested, but Noorjafar managed to escape by hiding in the jungle and later returned to India with the help of a local agent.
