Allegations of widespread irregularities have surfaced in the selection of beneficiaries and allocation of houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) across various panchayats in the Patepur block. A social worker has submitted an application to the District Magistrate, demanding a high-level investigation into the matter. A copy of the application has also been uploaded to the 'Sahyog' portal.

The allegations primarily target the housing assistant, who is accused of overlooking rules and providing scheme benefits to ineligible individuals. The application explicitly states that the beneficiary list includes several people who already own concrete houses, four-wheelers, or more than five acres of land. Conversely, economically weaker and genuinely needy families have been deprived of the benefits of this crucial housing scheme. It is also alleged that scheme funds have been disbursed into the bank accounts of some ineligible individuals.

The social worker has called for a thorough investigation into the selection and allocation processes for PMAY beneficiaries in at least 25 panchayats of the Patepur block. They have also demanded strict action against any personnel found guilty. A warning has been issued that if the investigation does not commence within a week, a protest will be staged in the first week of October, followed by legal action in court.

In response to these claims, Dr. Deepak Kumar Singh, the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Patepur, stated that the currently published list is not the final one. He assured that the eligibility of all beneficiaries would be thoroughly scrutinized at the time of house allocation to ensure that only deserving individuals receive the scheme's benefits.
