In Patna's Gaurichak police station area, two out of three armed criminals, who had arrived to commit the murder of a land dealer, were apprehended by villagers on Tuesday evening. One of the criminals died on the spot due to mob beating, while the other sustained serious injuries. The deceased has been identified as Suraj Kumar, a resident of Taregna, and the injured as Vivek Kumar. Following the incident, Gaurichak police recovered weapons from the scene and initiated an investigation.

According to reports, Nitish Kumar, a resident of Masaurhi, had hired the criminals to kill land dealer Suresh Kumar of Lakshmichak, owing to a land transaction dispute. On Tuesday evening, three criminals from Masaurhi arrived on a motorbike at Lakshmichak. Suresh Kumar was present with his supporters and local residents at the time. The criminals did not dare to shoot directly but fired five to six rounds into the air to create panic. Instead of fleeing, the villagers pursued the criminals.

Eyewitnesses stated that the villagers chased the three miscreants for several kilometers, shouting. Near Dhamoul village, at the border of Gaurichak and Parsa Bazar police station areas, the criminals' motorbike lost balance, leading to two of them being caught by the crowd. The enraged mob severely beat them with sticks, rods, and punches, leaving both semi-conscious. The third accomplice managed to escape. Upon receiving information, Gaurichak police arrived, rescued the injured, and took them to the hospital, where one succumbed to his injuries. Police recovered weapons and other items from the scene. Preliminary investigation suggests a contract killing related to a land dispute. Raids are underway to apprehend the third absconding accused and Nitish Kumar, who allegedly hired them.
