To manage traffic congestion and ensure smooth flow during the Durga Puja and Dussehra festivities in Patna, significant traffic changes have been announced for October 17-20. The Patna Superintendent of Police (Traffic), SSP, and DM jointly released this information on Tuesday. The new traffic regulations will be in effect from 3 PM on October 17 until 10 PM on October 20.

During these four days, all vehicular movement will be restricted from Dakbangla Chauraha to Kotwali. Strict rules regarding entry prohibition, one-way traffic, and route diversions will apply to all vehicles, with exceptions only for ambulances, hearse vans, emergency vehicles, and authorized pass holders. Furthermore, all metro and other construction-related vehicles will be prohibited from operating within the Patna Municipal Corporation area from October 15 to 21.

From October 17 to 20, all types of commercial and passenger vehicles (such as buses, trucks, tractors, Tata-407, etc.) will be completely halted within the municipal corporation limits. Traffic diversions and restrictions will be implemented on several key routes, including under and around the Rajabazar Flyover on Bailey Road, Dakbangla Chauraha, Income Tax Golambar, Kotwali, Ashok Rajpath, Patna City, and the New Bypass.

Specific diversions include the restriction of all vehicles on both flanks from Dakbangla Chauraha to Kotwali. Commercial vehicles from GPO Golambar will not be allowed to proceed north towards Buddhamarg; instead, they must take the western route towards R Block Chauraha. Vehicular movement from Bhattacharya Chauraha, Patna Junction, and Swaminandan Tiraha towards Dakbangla Chauraha will be prohibited, as will movement from New Dakbangla Road into SP Verma Road.

Small vehicles traveling from Patna Junction to Gandhi Maidan can use Goriatoli Chowk and Exhibition Road, returning via the same route. Those heading to the airport from the western part of Saguna More can take the Bailey Road via Rukanpura, under the Rajabazar Overbridge, Jagdev Path, and BMP. On Ashok Rajpath, small vehicles will operate in both directions from Kargil Chowk to NIT More, while a one-way system will be in place from Gandhi Chowk to Gaighat, allowing westbound to eastbound traffic.

Alternative routes have also been designated for heavy vehicles. Entry for heavy vehicles from Danapur to Ashok Rajpath will be restricted; they can instead use Danapur Cantt to Saguna More and Khagaul-Danapur Station. Heavy vehicles traveling from Danapur Station to Bihta can proceed via Neura towards Bihta and Ara.
