In a significant crackdown on fertilizer black marketing in Madhubani district's Phulparas police station area, the District Agriculture Department team has seized 43 sacks of chemical fertilizers stored without a license. The action was taken based on a tip-off received under the directives of District Magistrate Anand Sharma. An FIR has been lodged against the shopkeeper in connection with the case.

The incident took place in Phulkahi village (Mahathaur Khurd Panchayat, Murli Chowk Ward No. 17) within the Phulparas police station limits. The resident, Parmanand Mandal (Kumar), was allegedly storing a large quantity of chemical fertilizers without a valid license, using his kirana shop as a front. The agriculture department had received information that fertilizers were being sold illegally from this shop, causing distress to farmers.

Following verification of the information, a joint team comprising Block Agriculture Officer (BAO) Suman Kumar and Agriculture Coordinator-cum-Fertilizer Inspector Manoranjan Kumar, acting under the instructions of the District Agriculture Officer, conducted a surprise raid on the shop. During the inspection, a total of 43 bags of various fertilizers, including DAP, NPK, and Urea, weighing approximately 2.115 metric tons, were recovered. Shopkeeper Parmanand Mandal failed to produce any valid documents or licenses for the stored fertilizers.

Authorities immediately seized all 43 sacks of illegal fertilizers on the spot. Based on the written report by Block Agriculture Officer Suman Kumar, case number 324/26 has been registered at Phulparas police station under the Fertilizer (Control) Order, 1985, and other relevant legal provisions. Officials stated that the district administration's stringent campaign against fertilizer black marketing and illegal storage will continue, aiming to ensure farmers receive fertilizers at fair prices. The police have registered the case and initiated further legal proceedings.
