Katihar: In a symbolic protest against the serious injury of a Block Development Officer (BDO) during a student agitation in Bihar, Pranpur Block Development Officer Abhijit Kumar worked wearing a black armband on Tuesday. BDOs across the state are expressing their dissent following a call from their organization.

Pranpur BDO Abhijit Kumar arrived at his office with a black armband and carried out his regular official duties, including managing various development schemes, public grievances, and other administrative tasks. Despite the protest, the daily operations of the office continued smoothly, and public work was handled as usual.

The Block Development Officers' organization stated that BDOs often have to be present on-site to fulfill government responsibilities during law and order situations, student agitations, road blockades, protests, and other sensitive circumstances. However, they are not provided with adequate safety measures. The organization has demanded that BDOs and other administrative officers be equipped with essential safety gear, including helmets and body protectors, on such occasions to ensure they can discharge their duties in a secure environment. Pranpur BDO's action was part of this statewide protest.
