An encroachment has been reported on a passenger shelter built on NH-31 in the Pranpur block of Katihar district. Located between Jalla More and Kaleshwar Chowk, this shelter has been used for storing straw for several months, causing significant inconvenience to commuters. The passenger shelter was specifically constructed for public convenience but is now unavailable for protection from sun and rain.

Local residents, including Sanjay Kumar, Vikram Kumar, Vijay, and Prakash, stated that due to administrative apathy, villagers have illegally occupied the shelter for months. They allege that police from Pranpur police station, as well as block and circle officers and employees, pass through this route daily but have taken no action.

Commuters waiting for their vehicles near the shelter reported being exposed to sun and rain due to the encroachment. Passengers expressed concern that if such encroachments occur under the nose of the circle administration, one can easily imagine the condition of other public buildings in the area. This situation highlights a violation of government regulations and raises questions about the indifference of local authorities.
