बक्सर जिले के राजपुर प्रखंड में इन दिनों जल संकट गहरा गया है, जिससे क्षेत्र के कई गांवों के ग्रामीण बुरी तरह प्रभावित हैं। भीषण गर्मी और लगातार गिरते भूजल स्तर के कारण अधिकांश चापाकल जवाब दे गए हैं, जिससे पेयजल की समस्या विकराल रूप ले चुकी है। ग्रामीणों को पानी के लिए दूर-दराज भटकना पड़ रहा है, और हैंडपंपों से पानी की एक-एक बूंद निकालना भी मुश्किल हो गया है।
राजपुर प्रखंड के कई गांवों में स्थिति इतनी गंभीर है कि सुबह होते ही महिलाएं और बच्चे पानी की तलाश में निकल पड़ते हैं। कुछ चापाकल जो अभी भी चल रहे हैं, उन पर लंबी कतारें देखी जा सकती हैं। ग्रामीणों का कहना है कि पहले इतनी गर्मी में भी चापाकल से पानी आसानी से मिल जाता था, लेकिन इस साल स्थिति बेहद खराब है। भूजल स्तर इतना नीचे चला गया है कि चापाकल अब पानी नहीं खींच पा रहे हैं।
इस समस्या से सबसे ज्यादा गरीब और मजदूर वर्ग के लोग प्रभावित हैं, जिनके पास पानी खरीदने या अन्य स्रोतों से पानी लाने के साधन नहीं हैं। उन्हें मजबूरन दूषित पानी का इस्तेमाल करना पड़ रहा है, जिससे स्वास्थ्य संबंधी जोखिम भी बढ़ गए हैं। ग्रामीणों ने स्थानीय प्रशासन और जनप्रतिनिधियों से कई बार गुहार लगाई है, लेकिन अभी तक इस दिशा में कोई ठोस कदम नहीं उठाया गया है।
स्थानीय लोगों ने बताया कि जल संकट का यह दौर हर साल गर्मी में और गहराता जा रहा है। सिंचाई के लिए भी पानी की कमी हो रही है, जिससे किसानों की चिंताएं बढ़ गई हैं। ग्रामीणों ने सरकार से मांग की है कि इस समस्या का स्थायी समाधान निकाला जाए, जिसमें नए बोरवेल लगाना, पुराने चापाकलों को रिचार्ज करना और जल संरक्षण के उपायों को बढ़ावा देना शामिल हो। जब तक भूजल स्तर में सुधार नहीं होता, तब तक टैंकरों के माध्यम से पानी की आपूर्ति सुनिश्चित करने की भी मांग की गई है।

Due to intense heat and continuously falling groundwater levels, most handpumps have ceased functioning, making the availability of potable water a significant challenge. Villagers are forced to travel long distances in search of water, and even then, extracting a single drop from the operational handpumps has become arduous.
The situation in many Rajpur villages is so dire that women and children begin their quest for water early in the morning. Long queues are visible at the few handpumps that are still functional. Residents report that while water was previously accessible even during peak summer, this year's conditions are exceptionally bad, with groundwater levels dropping too low for handpumps to draw water.
The poor and laboring classes are disproportionately affected, lacking the means to purchase water or access alternative sources. They are compelled to use contaminated water, increasing health risks. Despite repeated pleas to local administration and public representatives, no concrete measures have been taken to address the crisis. Villagers are demanding permanent solutions, including new borewells, recharging old handpumps, and promoting water conservation, along with immediate tanker-based water supply until groundwater levels improve.
