An intensive inspection of the anti-erosion works underway at the Sabalpur Ganga embankment has been conducted. Officials have been directed to deploy at least 40 machines and 500 laborers at the work site within one week to accelerate progress and effectively prevent erosion by the Ganga River. This inspection was prompted by the rising water levels of the Ganga and the looming threat of erosion, which often intensifies during the monsoon season.

Local administration and water resources department officials jointly visited the anti-erosion sites. They observed that the current pace of work is slow and there is a shortage of necessary resources. In light of this, instructions have been issued to immediately expedite work and ensure the deployment of adequate machinery and manpower. Officials emphasized that if these works are not completed in a timely manner, severe damage could be caused to villages and agricultural land situated along the Ganga.

During the inspection, the quality of work and materials being used were also examined. Officials stressed the importance of ensuring the availability and proper utilization of construction materials. They warned concerned contractors that strict action would be taken against them if any negligence or lack of quality was found in the work.

This measure has been taken to mitigate potential threats from erosion before the monsoon. Every year, rising water levels in the Ganga exacerbate erosion problems in several areas, displacing thousands and affecting their livelihoods. This initiative aims to find a permanent solution to these problems and protect local communities. Significant progress in the work is expected with the deployment of heavy equipment and laborers at the site in the coming week.
