Four people, including a woman and her 18-month-old child, died in a horrific road accident in Bihar's Saran district on Tuesday (October 27) late night. The incident occurred around 11:30 PM near Paharpur village chowk in the Garkha police station area when a truck and an auto-rickshaw collided head-on. The impact was so severe that two men in the auto-rickshaw died on the spot. The critically injured 18-month-old child and his mother succumbed to their injuries during treatment at the Sadar Hospital.

According to Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Sumit Shekhar of Sadar-1, a total of six people were in the auto-rickshaw at the time of the accident. The deceased include the auto driver, a co-passenger, and the mother-son duo. Two other individuals sustained serious injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at Sadar Hospital, where their condition remains critical. Police have identified all the deceased, though their names were not immediately released.

Garkha Station House Officer Subhash Kumar stated that the truck driver fled the scene with his vehicle after the accident. Police are investigating the matter and a search operation is underway to apprehend the absconding driver. The bodies of all four victims were sent for post-mortem on Tuesday night. The incident has cast a pall of grief over Paharpur village and its surrounding areas.
