In Ujjain Bangra village, under the Ander police station area of Siwan district, a decision by the administration regarding caste tension has raised questions. Sadar SDO Ashutosh Gupta had revoked prohibitory orders (Section 163 of BNSS) last Thursday, believing they were no longer necessary. However, following information from the Ander Police Station in-charge that the situation in the area was still volatile, the same order had to be reimposed within just 24 hours. The new order will remain effective until August 31.

The tension in Ujjain Bangra reportedly arose between two communities after a video went viral. Considering the gravity of the situation, the administration had initially imposed Section 163 of the BNSS. This section prohibited the unnecessary gathering of five or more people, provocative speeches, slogan shouting, spreading rumors, and carrying lathis or weapons.

On Thursday, the SDO issued an order to revoke these prohibitory measures. However, immediately after the order was revoked, the Ander Police Station in-charge informed the SDO that the situation in the area was still not normal and there was an apprehension of tension. Following this police report, the administration reversed its previous decision and reimposed Section 163. Essential services have been exempted from this prohibitory order. The administration states that the objective is to maintain peace and law and order in the area and prevent any untoward incidents. Nevertheless, the entire process of revoking an order and then reimposing it within 24 hours has raised questions about the administrative decision-making process.
