The Harohar River, flowing through the Ghatkusumbha block of Shekhpura district, has been flowing above the danger mark for the past three days. Continuous rise in the river's water level has led to approximately a dozen villages being engulfed by floods. The river water, after spreading across fields, has now entered residential areas, creating an atmosphere of fear among villagers.

Currently, the Harohar River is flowing 60 centimeters above the danger mark. Rajni, a junior engineer with the flood control department, stated that the water level is expected to rise further in the next two days, which could increase the threat to low-lying areas. Villages such as Panapur, Alapur, Pranpur, Ghatkusumbha, Akarpur, Gadbadia, Batora, Sahra, Dihkusumbha, and Beloni have been affected by the floods. In Ghatkusumbha village, over three dozen houses have been inundated.

In Sujawalpur village, water has risen above the courtyards of many houses, forcing residents to use boats for commuting to the main road. In Biloni village, due to rising water, villagers are compelled to keep their cattle on the road. The school in Gurera village is surrounded by water, and a hamlet in Sahra village is completely submerged. Villagers have to wade through waist-deep water to reach the main road.

Families residing in the lower parts of Gadbadia, Batora, and Sahra villages are using boats to transport their belongings to safer locations. Sahra village's middle school and Anganwadi center are also submerged. Villagers allege that despite the continuous rise in river water, the administration has not yet initiated adequate relief and rescue efforts for the affected families. Discontent among villagers towards the administration is growing, and they have demanded immediate provision of boats, relief materials, safe shelters, and other essential facilities.
