A 24-year-old man named Pappu Kumar passed away on Tuesday morning at a children's home located in Bhaisakhali, Jiradei block, Siwan district. Pappu, reportedly from Chapra district, had been suffering from a mental illness for a long time and had received treatment multiple times at PMCH in Patna.

According to officials, Pappu Kumar was transferred to the Siwan children's home in Bhaisakhali from a children's home in Patna. Rupesh Kumar, Assistant Director of the children's home, stated that Pappu was mentally ill. About three days prior, his health had deteriorated, and he was taken to the Sadar Hospital. On Monday night, Pappu's condition worsened significantly. Staff from the children's home were transporting him to Siwan Sadar Hospital for treatment, but he succumbed to his illness en route before reaching the hospital. His body was brought to Siwan Sadar Hospital on Tuesday morning, where preparations for a post-mortem examination were initiated.

The Assistant Director further mentioned that Pappu was over 18 years old, whereas the regulations for children's homes typically stipulate care for individuals up to 18 years of age. However, due to his mental illness and the lack of other suitable arrangements, he was kept at the children's home. Following Pappu's death, the department faces the significant challenge of identifying and locating his family. Officials currently have no clear information regarding his family and are making efforts to trace them so that the body can be handed over in accordance with regulations. The exact cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem report is available.
