Residents of Jhunnapur village in Pachrukhi block, Siwan district, blocked the Siwan-Barharia main road today due to a power outage that has lasted for the past 10 days. Angered by the continuous darkness and alleged negligence from the electricity department, villagers took to the streets, protesting against the department. They claim that despite repeated complaints to power officials about a faulty transformer and local issues, no action has been taken for ten days.

The lack of electricity, coupled with heat and humidity, has led to water scarcity and disrupted children's studies, causing significant distress among the villagers. Hundreds of residents used bamboo sticks to completely block the Siwan-Barharia main road, leading to long queues of vehicles and considerable inconvenience for commuters. Villager Ajay Kumar stated that they have been living without electricity for 10 days, affecting drinking water supply and their children's education. He alleged that numerous calls to the electricity department's Junior Engineer and other officials went unanswered, forcing them to resort to blocking the road. The villagers warned that they would not clear the road until a new transformer is installed.

Upon receiving information about the blockade, local police and administration teams arrived at the scene. Police officials attempted to pacify the agitated villagers and assured them that they would contact senior electricity department officials to restore power as soon as possible. Following the administration's assurance, the villagers lifted the blockade but warned of more intense protests if electricity supply is not restored promptly.
