Villagers in Daraunda block of Siwan district have taken matters into their own hands, crowdfunding and repairing a dilapidated main road connecting Hadsar village to Hasanpura via Karmasi. The road had been in a poor state for a long time, with deep potholes and waterlogging making it difficult for commuters.

Local residents had repeatedly appealed to public representatives and leaders to fix the road, but their pleas went unheeded. Frustrated by the neglect, villagers from Hadsar pooled money, hired a JCB to drain water from the road, and purchased construction materials to fill the potholes. They then collectively worked to make the road motorable again.

This initiative by the villagers has raised serious questions about the working style of public representatives who claim to be committed to the region's development. Local residents like Rajiv Singh, Rabindra Kumar, Rohit Kumar, and Mohit Rai stated that leaders make grand promises during elections but fail to provide assistance during times of need. Due to the poor condition of the road, people were frequently falling and getting injured. With the administration and leaders turning a blind eye, the villagers were compelled to crowdfund and undertake the repair work themselves. This act of self-reliance and unity has become a talking point across the entire area, with people commending their efforts.
