Two youths tragically drowned in Sahebpur Kamal, Begusarai district, near the Chechiyahi Dam on Thursday. The incident occurred when a cyclist lost balance and fell into the water. In an attempt to rescue the struggling cyclist, another individual jumped into the water, but due to the deep water and strong currents, both ultimately drowned.

The deceased have been identified as Sohan Kumar (son of Ramsogarth Paswan) and Amit Kumar (son of Phulo Paswan), both residents of Panchveer village (Ward 07) in Begusarai. Eyewitnesses reported that after one person fell into the water from the dam, the other, seeing him drowning, immediately leaped in to save him. However, the depth and strong flow of the water proved too challenging, leading to both their deaths.

Local residents at the scene raised an alarm. Subsequently, with the help of divers including Hitesh Kumar, Nirala Kumar, and Ajit Kumar, both bodies were recovered from the water. Sahebpur Kamal Police Station इंचार्ज Rajesh Kumar stated that the police have sent the bodies for post-mortem examination and are taking further legal action in the matter. The incident has cast a pall of grief over the entire area.
