A shocking image from Araria district, Bihar, has exposed the dismal state of the education system. During the half-yearly examinations at the +2 High School Madhulata in Raniganj block, students were forced to sit on the seats of parked motorcycles in the school premises to write their answer sheets, as there was no space in the classrooms. A video of this incident has gone viral on social media, with students clearly stating their predicament.

More than 400 students are enrolled from classes 9 to 12 at the school, but there are insufficient permanent classrooms and a severe lack of benches and desks. Despite intense heat and humidity, even basic fan arrangements are absent in the classrooms. On the first day of the examination, when students arrived on time, there was no space left in the rooms, compelling them to take their exams outdoors on bike seats and platforms.

Local public representatives and villagers have expressed strong outrage over this deplorable situation. Arun Paswan, a Panchayat Samiti member representative, highlighted the severe lack of basic resources and the apparent negligence of the local management. He demanded a high-level inquiry from the district administration. Local headman Satyanarayan Singh critically remarked that while the country talks about digital education, children here are forced to take exams on bike seats, questioning how they can build their future in such conditions. He appealed to the education department to immediately provide necessary benches, desks, and additional rooms.

School principal Dilip Kumar acknowledged the severe shortage of resources. He explained that the student enrollment is very high compared to the limited number of buildings and rooms, leading to some students having to sit outside. This viral image has brought to light the ground reality of the education department not only in Raniganj block but across the entire Seemanchal region. The focus now shifts to how quickly the education department will restore basic facilities in the school following this embarrassment.
