A tragic road accident occurred on Monday afternoon in Batia Valley on the Sono-Chakai main road, resulting in the instant death of a father and his three-year-old daughter. The mother sustained critical injuries. The horrific incident took place on NH 333, just before Chiren Bridge, when a speeding Hyva collided head-on with their motorcycle.

The deceased have been identified as Sushil Barnwal, a resident of Dumri under Sono police station, and his three-year-old daughter, Priya Kumari. Sushil's wife, Chhaya Barnwal, was severely injured. According to reports, Sushil was traveling with his wife and daughter on a motorcycle to his in-laws' house in Tisri. The collision was so severe that the motorcycle and the family became trapped under the Hyva. Local residents and the police faced considerable difficulty in extricating them. By the time they were pulled out, Sushil and his innocent daughter had already died. Chhaya Barnwal was found unconscious and critically injured. She was immediately rushed to the Community Health Center, Sono, and later referred to Jamui for better treatment due to her critical condition.

During the same incident, a luxury car also collided with the Hyva, injuring three occupants who were subsequently admitted to a nearby hospital. The accident caused a temporary disruption of traffic on NH 333, leading to chaos on the road. Batia Station House Officer Sujata Kumari led a police team to the site to manage rescue operations and traffic. With the help of a JCB, the accident-involved vehicles were removed from the road, restoring normal traffic flow. This heartbreaking incident has once again raised concerns about road safety and the issue of speeding heavy vehicles in the Batia Valley.
