A 14-year-old cyclist, Vishal Kumar, died in a road accident on Sunday in Begusarai district. A speeding container truck collided with his bicycle on National Highway (NH-28) near Suro village, under Bachhwara police station limits. Vishal fell onto the road and was run over by the truck's wheels. He was the son of late Ram Shankar Jha, a resident of Bachhwara village, and was reportedly traveling from Dera Suro Ojhatol to Murlitol.

Following the incident, local villagers became agitated and completely blocked NH-28. Protesters demanded adequate government compensation for the victim's family and immediate repair of the dilapidated road. Villagers alleged that NH-28, from Godhna to Rashidpur Panchayat, is in a severe state of disrepair with potholes causing frequent fatal accidents. They also pointed out that despite the presence of a toll plaza, NHAI has failed to carry out necessary road repairs.

Upon receiving information about the blockade, Bachhwara police arrived at the scene and attempted to appease the crowd, but the villagers remained firm on their demands. After approximately three hours of effort, the blockade was lifted following assurances from officials to provide due compensation to the victim's family as per rules and to discuss road repairs with the concerned department. Police have sent the body to the Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.
