On Monday, Congress workers in Bettiah staged a strong protest, demanding the removal of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar from his post. Party activists marched from Hariwatika to Collectorate Chowk, with a large number of leaders and workers participating. The demonstration included the district president, local MLA, and former MP, among other senior Congress leaders.

Congress leaders expressed serious objections to alleged changes in the electoral process and voter lists. They claimed a lack of transparency and numerous irregularities in the voter rolls. Protesters demanded an independent and impartial review of all significant decisions made during CEC Gyanesh Kumar's tenure. Additionally, the party called for Kumar's arrest and an independent investigation into all decisions related to his term.

During the march, demonstrators burned effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to register their protest. Workers chanted slogans in support of their demands, prominently featuring 'Save Democracy' and 'Purify Voter Lists.' Congress leaders emphasized that the accuracy of voter lists and transparency in the electoral process are the foundations of any democratic system and cannot be compromised.

In anticipation of the protest, stringent security arrangements were made at Collectorate Chowk and surrounding areas. Police officers and personnel were deployed on-site to prevent any untoward incidents. Special attention was also paid to traffic management and maintaining law and order during the demonstration.
