Heavy rainfall in Nautan block of West Champaran district has led to the collapse of the main road connecting Khadda Kunjalhi to Khadda Patahari, severing connectivity for dozens of villages. The road, constructed approximately seven years ago, linked Nakti Paterwa to Khadda Kunjalhi, Sheikh Toli, and Dalit Basti Bhangaha, extending to Khadda Patahari. Villagers reported that due to a lack of maintenance over the past few years, the road was riddled with large potholes, making travel hazardous.

The recent torrential downpour exacerbated the situation, causing a significant section of the road in front of Hridaynarayan Prasad's field to completely wash away. This collapse has disconnected numerous villages in and around Nautan and Srinagar from the district headquarters in Bettiah. Residents now face a lengthy detour of several kilometers to access hospitals, colleges, and other essential services. This has created significant hardship for schoolchildren, sick elders, and pregnant women.

Local residents Dashrath Paswan, Sheikh Joha, Hridaynarayan Prasad, and Munna Paswan expressed their distress, stating that people were constantly risking their lives due to the road's dilapidated condition. The road's collapse has sparked widespread anger among the locals towards public representatives and the concerned department. Villagers argue that timely repairs would have prevented the current crisis.

Regional MLA Narayan Prasad has responded to the issue, stating that he has written to the government for the road's reconstruction. He assured that construction work would commence on a priority basis once funds are allocated. However, villagers are demanding immediate temporary repairs to prevent complete isolation during the ongoing rainy season. They urge the administration to address the critical situation promptly and alleviate their suffering.
