A significant administrative restructuring has been implemented at Bihar Bhawan and the Resident Commissioner's office in New Delhi. The Cabinet Secretariat Department has finalized a new organizational structure after surrendering previously sanctioned posts and creating new ones. The Resident Commissioner's office now has a total of 95 sanctioned posts, a substantial reduction from the earlier 203. As part of this reorganization, 119 posts have been surrendered, and 27 categories of posts have been completely abolished. The Cabinet Secretariat Department has issued an order to this effect.

The new structure includes one post each for Principal Resident Commissioner, Resident Commissioner, and Additional Resident Commissioner. Additionally, two posts for Deputy Resident Commissioner and one for Deputy Resident Commissioner (Security) have been approved. Various administrative positions such as Officer on Special Duty, Under Secretary, Principal Private Secretary, and Section Officer have also been incorporated into the new framework. The office will also have six Assistant Section Officers, four Personal Assistants, five Senior Secretariat Assistants, 33 Staff Car Drivers, and 13 Office Attendants. Besides protocol-related positions, a Sub-Inspector of Police will be deputed. This comprehensive new structure covers positions from officers to clerical and support staff.

The estimated annual expenditure for the 95 posts in the newly constituted Resident Commissioner's office is approximately Rs 7.90 crore. The government states that the objective behind this reorganization is to make the office more robust, organized, and aligned with its requirements. The primary aim is to remove unnecessary positions and ensure better utilization of available human resources. This change seeks to streamline positions according to the office's needs and enhance the effectiveness of administrative operations. Bihar Bhawan and the Resident Commissioner's office play a crucial role in the state government's administrative and protocol-related functions in the national capital.
