An unusual incident unfolded at the Jamui Sadar Hospital when an elderly man was bitten by a cobra. In a mix of urgency and perhaps some panic, his family caught the snake and brought it along to the hospital. Doctors, however, began immediate treatment based on the patient's symptoms rather than the snake itself. The elderly man's life was saved after he received approximately 20 antivenom injections.

The incident occurred in a rural area of Jamui. The elderly man was sitting near his home when a cobra bit him. He immediately experienced severe pain and symptoms of venom spreading through his body. His family, without losing time, decided to catch the snake, believing it would help doctors identify the species. They secured the snake in a box and rushed both the victim and the snake to Jamui Sadar Hospital.

Doctors and medical staff at the hospital were initially surprised by the sight of the snake but professionally proceeded with the man's treatment. Doctors clarified that bringing the snake to the hospital is unnecessary as treatment is administered based on the patient's clinical symptoms. However, the family's action highlighted their concern and lack of specific knowledge regarding snakebite treatment.

Senior physician Dr. Naveen Kumar stated that the patient's condition was critical, but timely intervention saved his life. He was given immediate doses of antivenom injections and kept under continuous observation. A total of about 20 antivenom injections were administered. The elderly man is now out of danger and his condition is stable. This event underscores the prevalence of snakebite incidents in rural areas and the need for greater public awareness.
