In a significant operation, the Excise Department in Jamui seized 127.5 liters of English liquor. A Tata Tiago car was also confiscated, and Rajiv Kumar Singh, a long-absconding liquor smuggler, was arrested. This action was part of a special raid campaign conducted under the directives of the Excise Department Secretary and the District Magistrate.

Under the leadership of Excise Police Station in-charge Gauri Shankar Kumar, a vehicle inspection drive was carried out near Misir Bigha during the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. During the inspection, a Tata Tiago car, transporting illegal liquor from Jharkhand, was intercepted. A search of the vehicle revealed 127.5 liters of English liquor. Subsequently, the vehicle was seized, and the driver, Rajiv Kumar Singh, was arrested. Rajiv is the son of the late Ram Sundar Singh, a resident of Daulatpur village in the Town police station area.

Excise Superintendent Subhash Kumar stated on Monday evening that the department had received confidential information about a large consignment of liquor being brought into the district from Jharkhand. After verifying the information, the team cordoned off the area and apprehended the accused red-handed. Kumar also mentioned that Rajiv Kumar had been involved in liquor smuggling for a long time and had previously evaded law enforcement multiple times. This time, precise intelligence and a well-planned operation led to his arrest. Interrogation of the arrested accused is ongoing to identify and apprehend other smugglers connected to his network. The Excise Department affirmed that the campaign against illegal liquor trade in the district would continue relentlessly.
