Another attempt to steal oil from the Barauni-Haldia crude oil pipeline has been foiled in Barajor, under the Jhajha police station area of Jamui district. Criminals dug up land to reach the underground pipeline and damaged the main pipeline. However, before they could extract crude oil, the pipeline's pressure dropped, which was detected by the control room via the pressure monitoring system. This immediately alerted Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) officials, preventing the theft of a large quantity of crude oil.

Upon receiving information about the abnormal drop in pressure, IOCL officials and security personnel arrived at Barajor. They found a large pit dug to access the underground pipeline. During the investigation, damage to the main pipeline was confirmed. Officials inspected the site and verified the pipeline's condition, subsequently filing a complaint at the Jhajha police station.

Criminals have previously targeted pipelines in the inaccessible and forested areas of Jhajha. Besides Barajor, attempts at oil theft have been reported in Sitochak, Narganjo, and the Dheepal Pahari area of Rajla. Due to the underground nature of the pipeline, criminals attempt to reach it by digging in secluded areas. Several such incidents have occurred in recent years, including attempts to steal oil by installing valves.

The latest incident in Barajor once again raises questions about pipeline security. However, thanks to the pressure monitoring system, the criminals' attempt was detected in time. The police now face the challenge of identifying the culprits and uncovering the entire network involved in pipeline infiltration.
